Frequentis safety-critical communication and information solutions leverage more than 75 years of experience showcasing true leadership in this market. With deep cross-industry experience in civil aviation, defence, public safety, maritime and public transportation markets; the company has built upon its initial control centre voice communications focus to develop deep expertise in these five areas of core competence. The company has driven innovation throughout its history with many ‘industry firsts’. This will continue as the industry evolves, with a focus on user-centric design that considers the controller in all it does.
SHAPING THE MISSION-CRITICAL BROADBAND COMMUNICATIONS OF THE FUTURE
Thanks to social media, broadband communication networks are a well-established part of our daily lives. But in safety-critical environments, the stakes are much higher and every change must be managed carefully. In Frequentis’ capable hands, mission-critical services for broadband communication networks are coming to life. We are taking a truly holistic approach, building a vision of how these innovations will work from applications on devices on the ground, to application servers as the backend on top of a regular broadband network, to the integration of control rooms. Throughout, we are considering how to smoothen the transition for our customers, helping them take full advantage of new capabilities while minimising risks.
GIVING OPERATORS THE TOOLS TO EXCEL
First responders everywhere are under pressure to react faster to emergencies with the same or declining resources. Extreme weather conditions are leading to more major catastrophes, increasing the demand on emergency services. Frequentis is leading efforts to optimise operations and workflows, so that these organisations can improve their response to emergency situations with the resources at hand.
At Frequentis, we believe that highly available public broadband networks could change the paradigm for operation of mission-critical services. By evolving mission operations, we can enable better situational awareness for incident operators. Additionally, interoperable pan-European broadband communication systems could help with international and interdomain responses to major natural catastrophes such as a large forest fires, flooding or landslides; boost international cooperation (for example in a cross-border criminal chase); and support the creation of a pan-European first aid system – all without manual integration for communication within international and interdomain Public Protection and Disaster Relief (PPDR) teams. Instead, missions could be set up in real time, as required, all chains of command could be updated with automatic notification of local reinforcements, and conversations could continue seamlessly across borders. This will improve cooperation and sharing of resources on both national and European levels
INNOVATION IN ACTION
As partner in the Smart-Connect project Frequentis develops a prototype solution connecting mission-critical mobile broadband networks (private setup or based on public commercial ones alike or on Satellite backhaul) with conneXstream to give responders the freedom to work on their tasks at hand no matter where they are. Together with the Smart-Connect partners and suppliers, Frequentis’ pursues that this innovative next-generation mission-critical solution comes to operation for the first responder community by providing a flexible, deployment-ready, fully standardised system that provides real-life experience of mobility scenarios.
